Sera Siporax Professional is a high-performance biological filter medium suitable for freshwater and marine aquariums as well as ponds. It is compatible with all filter types, including internal, external, and trickle filters, and is designed to maximize the surface area available for biological purification, providing an ideal substrate for beneficial filter bacteria.

In natural aquatic environments, biological processes in the substrate play a vital role in breaking down organic waste. Microorganisms convert organic matter into nutrients for aquatic plants while removing harmful substances such as ammonium, nitrite, and nitrate. Since natural waters contain limited waste per volume, the available bottom surface is sufficient to support these microorganisms.

In aquariums, however, space is limited, creating a need for a highly efficient filtration system that maximizes bacterial colonization and ensures safe and complete decomposition of organic residues.
